Future engineers build bridges

Lehigh Carbon Community College ‘s Early Learning Center is offering different STEM summer sessions for children ages 3 through 6, throughout July and the beginning of August.

The camp provides fun activities for children while incorporating academic learning in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

Campers in the second session, July 15-19, learned the fundamentals of building bridges.

Early Learning Center Administrator Elizabeth Lipman said the campers are working really hard on building their own bridges, using their own designs.

After pulling ideas out of a bridge book that gives examples of self-built bridges and having class discussions with their teacher, Jamie S. Walck, the campers were prepared to make sketches and construct their own bridges.

Joshua Enriques from Breinigs- ville holds a sketch of a bridge he would like to build.
