Coplay: Church picnic is set for Aug. 4

St. Peter Roman Catholic Church will have its homecoming picnic noon-10 p.m. Aug. 4 on the church grounds, 4 S. Fifth St.

Families from nearby neighborhoods and even across the country renew bonds at the picnic, which has tradition going back decades.

The event begins with the 10:30 a.m. polka Mass celebrated by Monsignor John Martin and the Emil Schanta Band in the church choir loft.

There will be food, including pierogies, halushki, clam chowder, burgers, pizza and more.

The popular train ride and inflated rides attract the children. Bingo will be played in the church hall.

Entertainment will be provided by the Emil Schanta Band and Flirtin’ with the Mob.
