LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

Camp Cementon: Campers visit museum in Reading

Following the first five weeks, week six brought great weather and a great time to Camp Cementon!

With no rain during the week, we got to play games outside and go to the pool every day. Camp Cementon welcomed all the new campers and the returning campers Monday morning, then played some camp games such as Silent Ball, Pacman and Limbo. The morning was followed by a sunny time at the pool.

Tuesday was filled with games of dodgeball, Hungry Hungry Giants and Four Corners. Camp Cementon was then joined by Camp Jefferson kids in the afternoon after their field trip for a fun day at the pool.

Wednesday was packed full of fun at our field trip to the Reading Public Museum. Campers enjoyed exhibits such as different animal biomes, an Egyptian exhibit complete with a real mummy and a huge exhibit titled “Permian Monsters: Life Before the Dinosaurs.” There was also a room filled with Legos where campers got to build, design and race their own Lego creations.

After lunch, everyone gathered in the planetarium and watched a very fun and educational video titled “The Enchanted Reef.” Some campers bought a souvenir at the gift shop to remember the field trip. This fun-filled day lasted a little longer than expected, which meant we were unable to go to the pool.

The morning on Thursday was filled with games and a craft. Campers played Cops and Robbers, Red Light-Green Light and many more games before decorating flower pots with paint. It was very cool to see all of the campers’ different creations on their flower pots. I would say the gold paint was by far a camp favorite.

Before going to the pool, everyone played the ultimate water game, Drip Drip Splash, which is very similar to Duck Duck Goose. However, each camper gets a drip of water. The camper who is chosen gets a big splash of water and has to chase the person who splashed them. In the afternoon, campers went to the pool, with the Cementon lifeguards playing games with the participants. Also, a very fun game of Four Square was played during pool time.

To end the week, campers had free time and played Wonder Ball in the morning, while groups were called to plant seeds in their uniquely decorated flower pots. The afternoon was again filled with another great, sunny day at the pool.

Camp Cementon awarded two participants with the Camper of the Week. Congratulations to Jacob V. and Brinley S. Both really deserved the award, showing great behavior and attitude all week.

With six weeks down, we can’t wait to see what the last two weeks bring to Camp Cementon.
