Lycoming firefighters visit Cetronia Fire Company

Two firefighters from the Citizens Hose Company and Ambulance Service, Jersey Shore (Pennsylvania, that is) stopped by the Cetronia Fire Department recently for a visit while returning to Lycoming County following service on their rescue truck.

On hand were Cetronia firefighters Bryan Wheeland, Ashley Peralta, Leo Lopez, Fire Chief Jay Heicklen and this LV Press photographer and reporter.

The Wheelands’ home-town is Jersey Shore, located on the west branch of the Susquehanna River bracketed by Williamsport, 18 miles to the east and Lock Haven, 15 miles to the west.

I joined Citizens Hose Company and Ambulance Service as a junior firefighter and ambulance attendant in 1964.

When I moved to Cetronia in 1989, I soon joined the Cetronia Fire Department as a firefighter/photographer.

My son, Bryan, joined as a junior firefighter and carried dual memberships with Cetronia and Citizens Hose Company.

Citizens Hose Company Fire Capt. Joe Mitchell Jr. and Lt. Nate Edkin were returning from Kaler Motor Co., Hatfield, for service and contacted Bryan Wheeland about visiting the Cetronia fire station.

Mitchell and Edkin were given a tour of the station before leaving for Lycoming County.
