The Emmaus Police Department will hold its second annual open house in conjunction with National Night Out 5:30 to 8 p.m. Aug. 6. The 400 block of Jubilee Street will be blocked off for the event. The event features tours of the police facility, a small car show with approximately 25 classic/hot rods on display, food vendors and more. The Emmaus Recreation and Entertainment Commission will hold a 40th anniversary party 2 to 8 p.m. Aug. 11 at Emmaus Community Park. Scott Marshall and Marshall’s Highway band will be on the pavilion stage 2 to 4:30 p.m. and Steel Creek Band 6 to 8 p.m. The event will feature food trucks, vendors, a car cruise and community groups. The Emmaus Public Library’s Summer Reading Club finale is a pool party at the Emmaus Community Pool 5 to 8 p.m. Aug. 13. The admission is free with your library card and all ages are welcome. The rain date is Aug. 22. The event features story time, games, crafts and drawings for all the teen summer reading club gift baskets. This has been the largest Summer Reading Club membership so far with 900 participants signed up. Reminder: The last day to turn in hours for summer reading credit is Aug. 10. The last day to pick up prizes is Aug. 17.

Main St., include a climate change space camp 10:30 a.m. to noon Aug. 5-8 for elementary school ages (sign up at the library or call 610-965-9284); make your own space station 10-11:30 a.m. Aug. 3; game night for the whole family 7-8 p.m. Aug. 5 and space rocks with Miss Jolie 4 to 5 p.m. Aug. 8.
The craft for crafternoon will show participants how to transform plastic bags into a cool lunch sack just in time for back to school, 1 to 2 p.m. Aug. 22. Supplies are provided for the first 30 participants.

The schedule for August concerts in Emmaus Community Park 6 to 8 p.m. Sundays in the Sam Landis Arts Pavilion is Aug. 19: The Roots Run Deep and Aug. 25: Scott Marshall and the Hill Billy Souls. There is no concert Aug. 4. Aug. 11 is the 40th anniversary party 2 to 8 p.m. as listed above.

The Emmaus Community Pool will be open noon to 8 p.m. Aug. 1 through 25 and 30, 31 and Sept. 1. The pool is closed Aug. 26 through 29.
Free Zumba sessions are offered 9 a.m. every Saturday in the Arts Pavilion at the park.
Aqua Zumba is offered at the community pool 6:30 p.m. Monday and Wednesday through Aug. 21. There is a minimal charge.
The Emmaus Historical Society members wish everyone a wonderful summer. The society’s membership picnic was postponed due to weather and is rescheduled for 5:30 p.m. July 31 at Emmaus Community Park Moser Pavilion. Non-member guests are welcome by paying 2019 dues. Members should call the office at 610-966-6591 with the number that will attend.
The society will continue to be open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays throughout the summer. A new display features vintage wedding attire including four wedding dresses and a tuxedo. All the items in the display were donated by Emmaus Historical Society members.

There is still time to plan to attend the Founders Day dinner being held to celebrate Emmaus’ heritage. The dinner will be held 6 to 8 p.m. July 27 at the Emmaus Moravian Church. The meal will be catered by Licensed 2 Grill. The Moravian Trombone Choir will perform. Teri Sorg-McManamon will serve as master of ceremonies for the program.
