Camp Cementon: Kids enjoy full week of games
Camp Cementon had a very hot, yet super-exciting fifth week. We were glad to see returning campers from the previous weeks, along with our new campers.
As the heat rolled in, we made sure to keep campers cool with a lot of pool time and water breaks. Campers enjoyed games like Four Square, Limbo, dodgeball and a camp favorite, Jump the River.
This is a game counselors and campers both love, due to the friendly competitiveness of who can jump the farthest while the campers state their favorite item in the category provided - for example, favorite ice cream flavor. This helps the counselors and campers to get to know each other better.
Thankfully, campers were able to enjoy the pool every day, as the rain held off. With a plethora of games and activities, the campers were both entertained and active. Of course, Four Square was played as much as possible.
As the temperatures rose, so did the fun on Tuesday. Most of the games were moved inside due to the heat. Despite being inside, the campers still had a lot of fun! While staying cool, the campers impressed us with their limbo skills. This led to another relaxing lunch followed by extended pool time.
Wednesday was our big field trip day. This week’s trip was to Freefall, a trampoline park in Bethlehem. While joined by Camp Jefferson, the campers had the whole trampoline park to themselves. After hours of jumping and fun, campers ate lunch at Freefall and still had time to go to the pool after.
Thursday was our craft day. Week five’s craft was tie-dye. As the campers were playing games in the morning, small groups were pulled to the side to tie-dye the shirts they had brought along with them. It was neat to see how the shirts turned out. They all look unique and cool.
As the shirts were left to dry, campers played games such as Night at the Museum and Red Light-Green Light. We then enjoyed lunch and had fun in the pool.
Before we knew it, Friday was upon us. Our end of the week’s theme was tie-dye, so many campers wore super-fun tie-dye shirts to camp.
As campers played games, had lunch and enjoyed the pool, the counselors chose the Campers of the Week. Camper of the Week is an award given to a girl and a boy who have shown outstanding behavior through the week. Congratulations to Gavin P. and Gracie W. for being awarded Campers of the Week! They were rewarded with a certificate and a bag of goodies.
With only three weeks left, we look forward to the fun they bring us!
