To the Editor:

July 4 used to mean celebrating our freedom, family picnics and beautiful fireworks. Now, all it is, is loud bangs, booms, aggravation and being a prisoner in our own home.

Even if “you” wanted to have a picnic, you can’t because of someone setting off the loud fireworks. The M80s, half sticks are deafening!

The holiday lasts for too many days! The fourth does not mean the same as it has in the past because of ignorant people.

The bangs are giving us headaches and no one knows how to be 150 feet away from other neighbors! Plus, [I] thought they had to stop at a decent hour so we can all have some peace and quiet?

Nope – not happening around here! They do not respect anyone, veterans, elderly neighbors, family pets.

And what about property? Who is gonna clean up the mess or God forbid a house catches fire or ruins a paint job on someone’s car?

What is wrong with these people?

Let the fireworks up to the professionals. They take precautionary measures, the neighbors don’t.

Call the police... ah....nope ... they aren’t coming.

I ask .... where do our tax paying dollars go? Not to protect the common taxpayer, for sure. How about our quality of life? Where did that go?
