LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

Camp Jefferson: Kids have fun at Bear Rock Junction

The third week at Camp Jefferson, sadly shorter than any other because of the holiday, went very smoothly. A far cry from our first week, mother nature was on our side. All of the rain and thunderstorms that would’ve certainly spoiled the day held off for most of the week.

This ideal span of weather allowed the campers to explore the unfettered potential of Jefferson Street Playground. From games of dodgeball on the basketball court, to Capture the Flag in the park and even games of Manhunt that stretched as far as the football fields, everyone had fun. If these activities failed to satisfy the campers’ competitive spirits, our field trip certainly did.

Our campers at Camp Jefferson joined forces with Camp Cementon kids to entertain a sporting game of miniature golf at Bear Rock Junction, New Tripoli. The well-kept and challenging course proved to be difficult for even the most skilled golfers among us. Unfortunately, the luck we had with weather early in the week faded, and there were brief showers that forced camper and counselor alike undercover. For Camp Whitehall, the rain couldn’t suppress the smiles. Just as the campers returned, they were met with ice cream for everyone.

Not to be outdone by the immensely hospitable workers at Bear Rock Junction, the Camp Jefferson craft was, you guessed it, ice cream. The campers seemed to be enthusiastic for the sweet treat. In fact, the whole week was marked with a general sense of excitement and patriotism.

Whether the campers were showing their support for our women’s national soccer team or celebrating the Fourth of July holiday, red, white and blue were all that could be seen on Wednesday.

The Campers of the Week are Jonathan C. and Aubree R. Congratulations!

We at Camp Whitehall hope you all had a fun and safe Independence Day. We cannot wait for another week of summer fun here at Jefferson Street Playground!
