EMMAUS HERITAGE ALLIANCE

The Emmaus Heritage Alliance once again provided third graders of the East Penn School District with a program designed to bring history to life.

Presenters set the stage with a pre-event that combined storytelling and PowerPoint pictures to familiarize the children with Emmaus’s history. Students later visited Emmaus’s God’s Acre, Shelter House, Knauss Homestead and 1803 House, and like George, the main character of the pre-event story, engaged in activities that were part of everyday life during the historical periods when the various sites were established.

Local customs, values and traditions are rooted in a community’s history. Through the combined efforts of the volunteers of the Heritage Alliance and their classroom teachers, third graders in the East Penn School District are connecting to their local roots and having a very good time in the process.
