Slippery Rock University

Max Nuscher, of Coplay, was named to the dean’s list for the spring 2019 semester at Slippery Rock University. The dean’s list consists of SRU undergraduate students who earned an adjusted semester GPA of 3.5 or higher, based on a schedule of at least 12 newly attempted and earned credits.

Slippery Rock University, founded in 1889, is a member of Pennsylvania’s State System of Higher Education. The university is shaped by its normal school heritage and characterized by its commitment to intellectual development, leadership and civic responsibility. SRU provides students with a comprehensive learning experience that intentionally combines academic instruction with enhanced educational and learning opportunities that will help them succeed in their lives, professional careers and be engaged citizens. Grove City College

Becca Reed, of Whitehall, a middle level math and history major at Grove City College, has been named to the dean’s list for the spring 2019 semester. Students eligible for the dean’s list have a GPA of 3.4 to 3.59; for the dean’s list with distinction, a GPA of 3.6 to 3.84; and for the dean’s list with high distinction, a GPA of 3.85 to 4.0. Becca is a 2018 graduate of Whitehall High School and is the daughter of the Rev. Charles and Amy Reed.

Cedar Crest College

Cedar Crest College celebrated the Class of 2019 at its 149th annual commencement ceremony May 11. The ceremony was held at the PPL Center in downtown Allentown.

Located in Allentown, Cedar Crest College was selected as a “Top Regional College” and a “Best Value” in U.S. News & World Report’s Best Colleges rankings from 2012-19 and a “Best College for Veterans” in 2015, 2016, 2018 and 2019. DeSales University

DeSales University held its spring commencement May 18. During the ceremony, the Rev. James Greenfield, OSFS 1984, Ed.D., university president, conferred degrees upon 463 graduating students, including bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees. An additional 156 students, who have either already received their degrees or who will be receiving them in the next several months, also were recognized.

DeSales University, Center Valley, is a private, coeducational, four-year liberal arts university affiliated with the Roman Catholic Church. Founded by the Oblates of Saint Francis de Sales in 1965, the 480-acre suburban campus is located 50 miles north of Philadelphia and about 90 miles south of New York City. A total enrollment of nearly 3,000 includes undergraduate day and evening students and graduate students. DeSales has approximately 100 full-time faculty members and offers more than 35 bachelor’s degrees and nine graduate programs in a wide range of disciplines.

Lehigh University

During commencement ceremonies May 20, Lehigh University conferred 1,058 bachelor’s degrees, 339 master’s degrees and 47 doctoral degrees. Of the nearly 1,500 graduates, degree recipients came from 44 states and 61 countries and majored in 99 different disciplines.

Elizabethtown College

Dana Morykan, of Northampton, a health and occupation major, was named to the dean’s list at Elizabethtown College for the spring 2019 semester. Students on the dean’s list are full-time undergraduate students who earn a semester grade-point average of 3.6 or better in 14 or more credit hours, of which at least 12 credits are letter-graded course work.

Elizabethtown College, located in historic Lancaster County, is a private, coed institution offering more than four dozen liberal arts, fine and performing arts, science and engineering, business, communications and education degrees.

Moravian College

Moravian College held commencement exercises May 11 on John Makuvek Field on the Main Street campus. The ceremony concluded the 277th academic year at Moravian. Moravian College President Bryon L. Grigsby, Class of 1990, conferred degrees to approximately 500 bachelor degree candidates.

Alvernia University

Patricia McGarry, of Northampton, has earned a Doctor of Philosophy in community leadership degree, and Danielle Demesyeux, of Coplay, has earned an Associate of Science Degree in applied health from Alvernia University. McGarry completed studies at the main campus, and Demesyeux completed studies at Reading Hospital.

Mansfield University

Savannah Packard and Trent Smith, both of Northampton, were among 269 Mansfield University students to be named to the dean’s list for the spring semester. To be named to the dean’s list, a student must attend the university full time and earn at least a 3.5 GPA.

Susquehanna University

Hope Martin, of Coplay, graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in creative writing as Susquehanna University closed its 161st academic year with commencement exercises May 15. Martin is a 2015 graduate of Whitehall High School. Susquehanna conferred degrees upon 471 students in the field house of the James W. Garrett Sports Complex.

Susquehanna University is a selective, residential liberal arts college that provides a solid background in the liberal arts and sciences, as well as professional experiences. Students develop critical thinking, writing, teamwork and communication skills which, combined with internships and research opportunities, prepare them for a lifetime of personal and professional success. Bucknell University

Northampton residents Ben Twigg, Class of 2019; Carly Masonheimer, Class of 2021; and Drew Filchner, Class of 2022, were named to the dean’s list for outstanding academic achievement during the spring semester of the 2018-19 academic year at Bucknell University. A student must earn a GPA of 3.5 or higher on a scale of 4.0 to receive dean’s list recognition.

Located in Lewisburg, Bucknell University is a highly selective private liberal arts university that offers majors in the arts, engineering, humanities, management and social and natural sciences, along with broad opportunities outside of class, to its 3,600 undergraduates. University of New Haven

Hunter Panier, of Coplay, was named to the dean’s list at the University of New Haven for the spring 2019 semester. He is working toward a Bachelor of Science in genetics and biotechnology in the College of Arts and Sciences and a Bachelor of Science in forensic science in the Henry C. Lee College of Criminal Justice and Forensic Sciences.
