Catasauqua: Holiday events are planned

The reading of the Declaration of Independence will take place 10 a.m., followed by an Honor Guard salute from American Legion Post 215, at the George Taylor House, Lehigh and Poplar streets.

Hunkajunk will perform July 4 at the amphitheater at Catasauqua Park and Playground, 501 American St.

The Large Flowerheads will be performing July 5.

Performances by both bands will be 7-10 p.m.

Don’t forget to bring lawn chairs, blankets and snacks.

Jeffrey Carroll, IPM coordinator for the Lehigh County Conservation District, will discuss his role in keeping the insect population in balance during the Catasauqua Garden Club meeting 1 p.m. July 10 at the Slovak Center Social Club, 1233 Fifth St., North Catasauqua.

People preparing items for artistic and horticultural exhibits should have them in place early.

A light snack will be available during the program and while other garden issues are discussed.

Garden-curious guests are always welcome.

St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 122 Union St., is now accepting registration for the 2019-20 school year.

The 4-year-old class meets 9-11:30 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays; the 3-year-old class meets 9-11:30 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.
