Camp Cementon: Camp Cementon off to a great start
Just like that, one week has come and gone at Camp Cementon. Despite dreary weather for most of the week, kids and counselors alike made the best of the conditions and enjoyed a fantastic first week! We enjoyed seeing all the new faces, as well as those of returning campers.
Monday came with first-day jitters and rain in the morning. After welcoming the campers, we enjoyed playing games indoors like Four Square, Red Light-Green Light and Wonderball. In the afternoon, Camp Jefferson joined us for some fun at the pool!
On Tuesday, campers indulged in more indoor activities such as dodgeball and Heads Up Seven Up.
Wednesday was an extremely exciting day at camp, as we took our field trip to Chuck E. Cheese. Campers enjoyed pizza and soda, along with two hours of all-you-can-play games. By the end of the day, tickets were piling up for every camper!
On Thursday, we were able to get outside in the morning to play Fastest in the West and enjoy some free time on the playground.
Friday was the nicest day of the week, as there was tons of sun at the pool in the afternoon. Friday was also our dress-up day. Our theme for week one was crazy socks, and our campers took that to the next level. This was a great way to end a great week!
Although we saw rain every single day, we were lucky enough to be able to make it to the pool every day.
On Friday, we also named our Campers of the Week. These two campers showed excellent behavior all week, participated in all games and showed respect to others at all times. Congratulations to Camp Cementon’s first Campers of the Week of 2019 - Alex B. and Penelope G. Keep up the great work!
With one week down, we can already feel this summer beginning to fly by at Camp Cementon. Campers and counselors enjoyed our kickoff week, and we all can’t wait to be back for week two!

With the sun shining and temperatures high, Camp Cementon enjoyed a fun-filled week two! Due to the Cement Belt Fair, Camp Cementon was moved to Jefferson Street Playground to combine with Camp Jefferson. Both camps bonded with games and playground fun.
On Monday, we were glad to see returning campers from week one and many new faces! We played games such as dodgeball, had fun on the playground and loved swimming at the pool.
On Tuesday, campers played Jump the River, where campers impressed us with their jumping abilities. After that, we enjoyed a nice, relaxing day at the pool, where many campers filled themselves up at the snack stand.
On Wednesday, campers played Pacman on the basketball courts, as well as many other games. All cooled down at the pool on the hottest day of the week.
Thursday was arts and crafts day, and campers were given a cardboard cutout of a seashell to decorate with accessories such as googly eyes, markers and seashells themselves. As the seashells sat to dry, we spent time eating lunch, swimming and playing one of the camp’s favorite games at the pool - Four Square.
Friday was finally our field trip day! We first spent the morning with a bit of free time on the playground, then went to Town & Country Lanes. Here, campers enjoyed two hours full of bowling and arcade fun. They were also treated for lunch between exciting games of bowling.
After we got back, we spent our final hour at the pool, where we named our two Campers of the Week - two of the many who showed outstanding behavior all week long. Congratulations, Zach B. and Grace S. Keep up the great work! They were rewarded with a certificate and a bag full of treats.
With two weeks down, we can’t wait to see how much fun the next six will bring us!
