Parkland Garden Club hosts district meeting

The Parkland Garden Club recently hosted the District ll/lll meeting, with this reporter as the district’s director.

These meetings are a way to network with other clubs and to learn and share ideas on programs and different projects.

Chris Leskosky, GCFP president, attended the meeting.

One highlight of the meeting was the judging three Trash to Treasurers entries.

Connie Donklan’s entry from the Bethlehem Garden Club won first place. Brenda Aubert’s wheelbarrel took second and the entry from the Reading Club came in third.

The first-place winner will be entered in competition at the state convention in Altoona.

After the business meeting, Rexine Krause from Countryside Farm and Greenhouse presented a program on culinary herbs and the history of herbs.

Millie Mosella coordinated the hospitality part of the meeting.

“The tables were covered with warm, white tablecloths with many fresh pots of shamrock plants marching down the center of all the tables,” Wendy Webber Welsh, president of the Bethlehem Garden Club, said. “The soft yellow walls made the whole room reflect the warm sunshine streaming through the many tall windows.

“It was delightful to be with women who love flowers and gardening as much as I do.”
