Members of the Upper Lehigh Lions Club had an enjoyable evening with dinner at Villa Lentini and installation of officers for 2019-20 by Past District Governor Fred Folland.

Ronald Smith is the new president, succeeding Ruthann Krause in the leadership position.

Richard Wisser and Marsha Johnston are first- and second vice presidents.

William Rabe was named secretary. Kevin Schmidt will serve as treasurer and Ronald Gabel was named assistant secretary/treasurer.

Tom Kern is the new Lion Tamer in charge of equipment, banners and the display of flags from countries that have Lions Clubs. These are set out at every meeting.

The Lion Tamer also collects members’ meal payments and handles the 50/50 drawing.

Valerie Rex does such a great job as Tail Twister, she will continue for the new year as the person who keeps the meetings happy and lively and even tells some jokes.

Lion Larry Snyder spoke with The Press.

“We’re there to have fun, but we help and serve the community as well,” Snyder said.

Other officers include Richard Wisser, membership director; Keith Bloss and Ken Ritter, one-year directors; and Diana Haines and Larry Penrose two-year directors.

Union Lutheran Church, Schnecksville, is hosting a potluck breakfast in between the 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. worship services on June 30, from 9:15 a.m. to 10:15 a.m.

The Christian Education Department of Union United Church of Christ, Neffs, is partnering with World Vision and Operation Kid to Kid this summer to collect donations for babies and their mothers in Zambia.

World Vision works with new parents to educate them about healthy nutrition and parenting skills.

The organization provides Vitamin A for newborns which helps prevent blindness.

The effort seeks to ensure a better future for Zambian children.

Vine Church and Agape New Testament Fellowship will worship together 10 a.m. June 30.

Pastor Adam Kern of Vine Church will lead the combined service at the Agape Church.

“We want to create unity between the two churches and get to know each other better,” Kern said.

Vine Church’s regular service time is 6 p.m. in the Agape building.
