A new stop sign at the intersection of Macungie Mountain Road and Sweetwood Drive is needed to reduce accidents according to resident Jennifer MacDonald, at the June 6 meeting of the Upper Milford Township Supervisors meeting.
“Would the township entertain a third stop sign?” MacDonald asked. She said she would like it to be a three-way stop.
“Someone was driving too fast and went into my neighbor’s garage,” MacDonald said.
She said she thought there has been increased traffic since a winery opened near Macungie Mountain Road and St. Peters Road. She said the winery hosts wine tastings and features a wedding venue.
“We can ask,” Township Public Works Manager Brian Williams said.
“All we can do is ask PennDOT [Pennsylvania Department of Transportation] to do a study,” Supervisor Joyce Moore offered.
In a different vein, Supervisor Robert Sentner mused about “ratty-looking properties” in the township. “What can we do?”
“We have to be careful ‘spot zoning,’” Township Manager Bud Carter said in response.
“I just want to start the conversation,” Sentner said.
