UPPER MACUNGIE TOWNSHIP: Fireworks Spectacular July 6 in Breinigsville

Upper Macungie Township, along with Schmoyer, Trexler and J.S Burkholder funeral homes, will host the Breinigsville Independence Day fireworks spectacular July 6 at Earl Adams Memorial Park, 8935 Breinigsville Road, Breinigsville. Rain date is July 7.

Concession stands open at 3 p.m. and WTAP TV personality Uncle Jeffery will begin broadcasting at that time.

There will be music by the Allentown Municipal Band at 7 p.m. with an old-fashioned patriotic sing-along at 8:15 p.m.

The patriotic reading will start around 9:10 p.m. with the grand fireworks spectacular at dusk.

Parkland Community Library will offer a teen yoga class noon to 1 p.m. June 22 in the South Whitehall Township Building meeting room, 4444 Walbert Ave., South Whitehall.

Baby story time with picture books, rhymes and songs for children ages birth to 2 years old will be offered 10:30 a.m. June 24, and July 1 at the library, 4422 Walbert Ave., South Whitehall.

A caregiver must attend with each child.

Kids in grades sixth through 12 will join library staff to re-enact the Hungry Hungry Hippo challenge 12:30 -2 p.m. June 24.

Read to the Pups will be offered 6:30 p.m. on June 24 and July 1.

Join the Lehigh Valley Therapy Dogs and practice reading allowed to these patient and gentle pups.

Library staff will host a Teen Craft Club DIY Slimes project for kids in grades sixth through 12 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. June 25.

Join Todd from Todd’s Martial Art and Fitness for a basic self-defense class from 6:30-8 p.m. June 25.

Ziegels Church, 9990 Ziegels Church Road, Breinigsville, is offering PowerUp Vacation Bible School June 24-28.

PowerUp VBS will be connecting with kids through a culturally relevant video game theme, where they will learn that God loves them, wants a relationship with them, and He gives them the power to live for Him.

Volunteers are needed to lead crafts, games and additional volunteers are needed leading the youth throughout the day. Youth volunteers are always welcome! Donations of food items are also needed.

The church will be having a family day picnic 11-11:30 a.m. after Union worship Service on June 30. All are welcome to attend.

They will eat between 11-11:30 a.m. The church will provide hot dogs, rolls and drinks. Bring a side dish or dessert to share.

There will be bingo, horseshoes, Twister, and a family scavenger hunt.

There will be a bonfire for the teens.

Weisenberg Township’s fire truck will be on scene to cool down everyone, so be sure to bring a bathing suit and towel.

Prizes are needed for bingo, so be creative with a basket of vegetables, dessert or perennials.

Ziegels is accepting registrations for its 2019 Bear Creek Camp 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 15-19.

The camp is open to youth in kindergarten through sixth grade.

There is a registration fee.

Helpers and host families for the counselors are needed.
