One day we took our dog Daisy to visit at a local dog sanctuary. One of the volunteers was taking a snack break and Daisy the mooch started inching her way closer, looking for a handout. The volunteer looked at her and said, “You won’t like them. They’re veggie straws and I don’t even like them.” Undeterred, Daisy persisted and the woman gave her one. I figured she would eat it since Daisy will eat almost anything but the next thing we knew she was dragging her tongue across her teeth trying to get the veggie straw off her tongue! The woman said, “See, I told you you wouldn’t like them.”
The next township column will be published July 17; copy deadline is July 11.
