Coplay: Party set for June 15

The Coplay 150th anniversary birthday party is scheduled for noon-10 p.m. June 15 at Samuel Balliet Stadium, 131 N. Eighth St.

The event is free to the public.

There will be food trucks.

Craig Thatcher Band will perform 1:15-3:30 p.m., followed by Philadelphia Funk Authority 4-6:30 p.m. and Brian Dean Moore Band 7-9:30 p.m.

Cat Country 96 radio station will broadcast live 7-8:30 p.m.

One-hundred-fifty candle lanterns will be released 9 p.m.

The night will end with a fireworks show 9:30 p.m.

While those attending are asked to bring lawn chairs and blankets for seating, a strict ban is being imposed on coolers and outside food and beverages.

Coplay Parkway Pool, 2 Keefer St., opens June 17 and will be open noon-7 p.m.

The pool is staffed with certified lifeguards.

There will be special events scheduled.

Aqua Zumba classes will continue, taught by Tara Miller. Classes are 6:30-7:30 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays. There is a fee.

Coplay Public Library summer hours begin June 17. The library will be open 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Mondays through Wednesdays, 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Thursdays, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Fridays and 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturdays.

St. John’s Lutheran Church, 18 S. Third St., will again hold Vacation Bible School for the week of July 22. The theme is “Super Cool Underwater Bible Adventure.”

VBS is held 6:30-8:30 p.m. and is open to children ages 4-14. Younger children can participate with parental assistance.

Registrations are being taken in advance.
