LOWHILL TWP: Zoo offering Father’s Day programs

Lehigh Valley Zoo, 5150 Game Preserve Road, Schnecksville, is hosting World Ocean Day on June 8.

There will be aquatic and marine life themed crafts, a meet-and-greet with Moana and Ariel 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and two opportunities to watch African Penguins feedings at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.

There will also be animal enrichment demonstrations with the otters at 12:30 p.m. and penguins at 1:30 p.m.

Story time with an educator will be presented 10:30-11:30 a.m. June 9.

A meet-and-greet with Bean, the resident sloth is scheduled from 10:30-11:30 a.m. June 13.

Join the zoo staff June 15 and 16 for Father’s Day weekend.

From 10:30-11:30 a.m. there will be a variety of conservation educators with ambassador animals mingling throughout the zoo.

Captains America and Marvel will be at the zoo 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. both days for a meet and greet.

The picnic at Morgenland Church, 3120 Weidasville Road, Orefield, is scheduled for 4-8 p.m. June 22, rain or shine.

Music will be performed 5-8 p.m. by Nick of Time.

There will be good food, fun, fellowship, cakewalks, raffles and more.

Christ’s Church at Lowhill, 4695 Lowhill Church Road, New Tripoli, will have its 250th anniversary celebration July 27.

Yard salers, vendors, crafters and flea marketers are being sought.

The church also wants to have a community blood drive. At least 15 volunteers are needed. Contact Lois at 610-554-6249 if interested.

Vince’s Cheese Steak food truck will be on site.

There will also be kids’ activities, the band Nyte Flyte, historical facts and pictures, bake sale, home made foods, and a basket raffle.
