The American Lung Association’s fifth annual LUNG FORCE Walk Allentown will attract over 200 people, aiming to raise vital awareness and $25,000 in funds for research and advocacy for lung cancer, the number one cancer killer in the U.S. The walk around the Lehigh Parkway will be held 5:30 to 8 p.m. Registration begins 5:30 p.m.; opening ceremony starts 6:15 p.m. Walk starts 6:30 p.m. Register for the event and learn more at lungforce.org/Allentown.

The Emmaus Flag Day Association will hold its annual Flag Day Program in the Emmaus Community Park 6 p.m. The program will include presentations of the fifth grade students who wrote the winning poems and the eighth grade students who wrote the winning essays that address the question, “What does the American flag mean to me?” The Emmaus Chorale, directed by Janet Davis, will present musical presentations. Pastor Brian Dixon from the Emmaus Moravian Church, will give the Invocation and Benediction. The featured speaker is Patrolman Adam Polster of the Emmaus Police Department. Nathan Brown, Lehigh County commissioner for District 5 will preside and Emmaus Mayor Lee Ann Gilbert will present proclamations to the winning students.

The Emmaus Public Library summer reading program helps young readers maintain and improve their reading skills when school is out. Volunteers can help kick off the program by volunteering a few hours at a fun celebration on the grounds of the Emmaus Public Library.
