John R. Evans, 56, of Laurys Station, died May 20, 2019, at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest. He was the husband of Judith A. (Dinan) Evans for 27 years.

Born in Philipsburg, he was a son of H. James and Jonalie (Ritchie) Evans.

He was a graduate of West Branch High School, Philipsburg, and earned an associate degree in petroleum engineering and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Pittsburgh.

He was an East Coast sales representative for Kephart Trucking and was stationed in Bigler for 25 years. In the last five years, he was a railroad conductor with Norfolk Southern Railway. He coached the Parkland Elementary School wrestling team.

In addition to his parents and wife, he is survived by two children, Jaclyn G. of Baltimore, Md., and Ian J. of Newark, Del.; two sisters, Lora Evans of Hobe Sound, Fla., and Jamie and her husband Jim Whitehead of Philipsburg; a brother, James “Jimbo” and his wife Darbie Evans of Spring Mills; nieces; and nephews.

Contributions may be made to a Parkland Elementary wrestling award fund to help one child each year attend wrestling camp or to Peaceable Kingdom, both c/o the funeral home, 2119 Washington Ave., Northampton, 18067.
