Behind the music: The creative process in composing a new classical work is the topic of “Inside the Score: A New Cello Concert,” 7:30 p.m. May 23, Miller Symphony Hall, Allentown. Join the Allentown Symphony Orchestra and Diane Wittry, ASO Music Director and Conductor, for a behind-the-scenes look at the journey from composer’s vision, to rehearsal, to performance. During the first portion of “Inside the Score,” Wittry and composer Matthew Quayle, above, discuss the orchestra’s rehearsal of his new piece, which features ASO Assistant Principal Cello Jameson Platte. Then, the ASO will premiere the first performance of the American composer’s work. Proceeds benefit the ASO Education and Community Engagement programs, including El Sistema Lehigh Valley.
