LOWHILL TOWNSHIP: Christ’s Church at Lowhill Food Pantry needs donations

Christ’s Church at Lowhill Food Pantry is looking for donations of food items, such as cereal, soup, canned pastas, canned fruit and healthy snacks for children, such as fruit cups, pudding cups, granola bars, etc.

They are also in need of personal care items such as shampoo, deodorant, bath soap, as well as household cleaning supplies, including dishwashing soap, cleanser, etc.

The Blessings Shop needs new dish towels, bath towels and wash cloths, activity books for children and outdoor games for summer activities.

Items may be dropped off 9-11 a.m. on the third Tuesday of each month and 9-11 a.m. on the last Saturday of the month.

Arrangements may be made for other times, if needed, by calling 610-674-2440.

Christ’s Church at Lowhill, 4695 Lowhill Church Road, New Tripoli, will be have its 250th anniversary celebration July 27.

Yard sale sellers, vendors, crafters and flea marketers are needed.

Call Wanda at 610-842-4781 to reserve a space.

They want to have a community blood drive, and need at least 15 volunteers.

Vince’s Cheese Steak food truck will be on site.

There will also be kids’ activities, the band Nyte Flyte, historical facts and pictures, bake sale, home made foods, and a basket raffle.

Morgenland Church’s picnic is scheduled for 4-8 p.m. June 22, rain or shine at 3120 Weidasville Road, Orefield.

Music will be performed by Nick of Time from 5-8 p.m.

There will be good food, fun, fellowship, cakewalks, raffles and more.

Lehigh Valley Zoo, 5150 Game Preserve Road, Schnecksville, is hosting its third annual Red, Wine and Blue Festival on May 25.

All guests 21 years of age and older are invited to gather under the event tent to sample a variety of wines and gourmet treats from an assortment of specialty vendors.

For those under 21, the zoo will offer an exciting line up of fun activities including a giraffe feeding experience, Lorikeet landing, a kangaroo answer and question session and an array of conservation crafts and keeper talks.

John Rodden will perform 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the lower event tent.

There will also be an animal mingle with some of the zoo ambassador animals and conservation educators noon to 1 p.m. at the same tent.

North America Enrichment Day will be celebrated at the zoo on May 26.

The zoo will be featuring specialty keeper talks themed around native animals, a river otter feeding at 12:30 p.m. and an animal mingle at 1:30 p.m. in the exercise yard.

They will also have a hands-on enrichment creation station for guests to make their own North America enrichment items.

Join the zoo for story time with an educator 10:30-11:30 a.m. May 27.

The zoo will be hosting its Member Day Summer Kickoff with special crafts for kids and music performed by DJ Ray on June 2.
