STUDENT OF THE WEEK
Q. Who are the members of your family: parents, siblings and pets?
A. My parents are Rob and Kelly Gravereaux. I have an older sister named Chloe and a younger brother named Chase. We have a dog, Lucy and two cats Phoebe and Mia.
Q. What do you most enjoy about being a senior?
A. My favorite part about being a senior is having more freedom.
Q. What is your favorite subject? Why?
A. My favorite subject is math. I have always liked that it is straightforward and there are steps to follow to get the right answer.
Q. Have you received any special awards or recognition?
A. Yes, I have received both academic and athletic awards. On the academic side, I am a straight-A student and I have received Principal’s Honor Roll each marking period, Academic Excellence each year and Excellence in French the past two years. On the athletic side, I have been on the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference 1st team, team MVP, EPC Swimmer of the Year, All-American, All-State, Morning Call Swimmer of the Year and Lehigh Valley Live Swimmer of the Year. I am also a team-record holder in the 100-yard freestyle and 100-yard butterfly.
Q. What are your favorite extracurricular activities?
A. My favorite extracurricular activity, by far, is swimming. I have been on the high school team for the past four years and I also swim year-round for EMAC. On the weekends, I am a swim lesson instructor. Basically, the pool is my second home.
Q. What is your next goal after high school?
A. After high school, I will be swimming and studying mathematics at Drexel University. My goal is to do well both in the pool and in the classroom.
Q. What do you consider your biggest challenge to date?
A. Balancing school and swimming has probably been the most challenging part of high school. Swimming requires lots of dedication: two hour practices every day after school, three practices before school each week, practices on Saturdays and one or two meets a week. This in addition to my schoolwork, which is time demanding as well, has taught me to be very good at time management.
Q. For what would you like to be remembered?
A. I want to be remembered as someone who was always positive. I also hope that people remember me as someone who is fun to be around, but is also dedicated and hard-working.
Q. Whom do you admire? Why?
A. I admire people who work hard to achieve their goals.
Q. Do you have any advice for your peers?
A. My advice is to have good time-management skills. I always try my best to use my study halls wisely so that way I can relax at home and not worry about my homework.
