Friebolin is new WCMS principal

At the May 6 Whitehall-Coplay School Board meeting, Dr. Lorie Hackett, superintendent, announced Angela Friebolin will become Whitehall-Coplay Middle School’s new principal, at the rate of $114,500. Friebolin began working for WCSD in 2008 and is currently the vice principal at WCMS. She will be replacing Glenn Noack, who is retiring this year.

“Angela is a graduate of Muhlenberg College with a Bachelor of Science in biology and education and certifications in both biology and general science. She has obtained a master’s degree in educational leadership with principal certification from Wilkes University, English as a second language program specialist certification from Lehigh and her superintendent’s letter of eligibility from the University of Scranton,” Hackett said.

“The interview team was extremely impressed with Friebolin’s entry plan, which highlighted and placed a major focus on the continuation of developing strong positive relationships among all of our stakeholders at the middle school and the community as a whole. An additional major area of focus was placed on instructional leadership, increased student achievement and active student engagement,” she said.

“You can trust without fail I will work as hard as I can for our kids,” Friebolin said.

Three of the new Gockley Elementary School full-day kindergarten teachers were also introduced - Christen Hudak and Heather Marth (temporary), at the rate of $52,913, and Erin Reichenbach (permanent), at the rate of $62,752.

New appointments include Nicole Seng, temporary Whitehall High School guidance counselor, at the rate of $54,591, and Erin Schmidt and Kathryn Mueller, temporary full-day Gockley Elementary kindergarten teachers, at the rate of $52,913.

Appointments for the 2019 summer extended school year program include Lauren Santayana and Stephanie Deibert, ESY teachers; Angela Christman, Cynthia Forster and Betsy Herb, reading enrichment teachers for incoming kindergartners; Danielle Hacker, Hana Nanoah and Suzzane Riola, reading enrichment teachers for rising first-graders; Samantha Solomon and Christine Laudato, reading enrichment teachers for rising second-graders; Victoria Bobyak and Emily Lepore, reading enrichment teachers for rising third-graders; Bethany Koenig, Erin Reichenbach and Amanda Woolslayer, reading enrichment substitutes; Andrew Fehnel, Anthony Pangaio, Frank Piff and David Stauffer, summer STEAM camp Creation Station (funded through student tuition) teachers; Sharon Gumhold, WCMS math teacher; Steve Swann, Stephen Piston and Rhiannon Sorrentino, WCMS English/language arts teachers; Samantha Neas, WCMS science teacher; and Dennis Roman, WCMS math/language arts substitute teacher; and Jennifer Stancombe, WHS special education teacher, all at the contracted rate of $36 per hour.

Other appointments include Danielle Monroe, districtwide, half-day ESL salaried substitute teacher, at the rate of $52,666; Anita Lobach, WHS cafeteria worker, at the rate of $12.95 per hour; Kathy Wieder, cafeteria worker at Gockley, at the rate of $12.95 per hour; Dale Blattenberger, Duane Fenon and Lana Hemingway, bus drivers; Victoria Bobyak, girls volleyball head coach, at the compensation of $4,500; Christina Stoudt, new WHS science department leader, at the additional compensation of $1,729; and Travis Fenstermacher, Brett Girardi, Edward Harrich, Baby Girl Padilla, Basil Giletto, Ben Szewczak, Juanita Flores, John Garcia, Joseph Herman and Liam Sullivan, summer maintenance employees, at the rate of $8 per hour.

The board approved the resignation of Curtis Morgan, bus driver.
