District News: Students commit to future plans
Congratulations to Whitehall High School and Lehigh Career & Technical Institute students on their signing day May 10 at DeSales University. Five students committed to either employment or college after graduation.
The students entering the workforce who committed to employment are Talen Getchell, precision machine tool technology; and Matthew Parra, electronics tech. The students who are furthering their education in college are Jaron Crosson, print technology/graphic arts; Keanne Herrera, masonry; and Jeremy Salabsky, print technology/graphic imaging.

Open houses are set in the Whitehall-Coplay School District.
Zephyr Elementary School, 6 p.m. May 16. The second annual science fair and a basket raffle will be held in the cafeteria.
Steckel Elementary School, 6 p.m. May 23. In the cafeteria, enjoy a basket raffle and information tables. Don’t forget the PTO Plus book fair.

The last day for book checkout in the library for ninth-, 10th- and 11th-graders is May 21. All books and fines for underclassmen must be handed in by June 3 to avoid financial obligation.

Spring concerts are continuing.
Steckelwood Pops (second- and third-grade choruses), 7 p.m. May 21 in the auditorium of WHS
Zephyr Elementary, 7 p.m. May 22 in the auditorium of WHS

Schools will be closed May 27 for the Memorial Day holiday.

WCSD calendar changes: Elementary students will be dismissed noon June 7, 10 and 11. No lunches will be served.
The last day of school for students will be June 12. Students will be dismissed 10 a.m.
Teachers will have a professional development day June 13.
