Coplay Public Library’s spring basket raffle will end May 18. The drawing will be 7 p.m.

The baskets will be at the library until May 18. They will then be moved to St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, 4 S. Fifth St., where they will be on display during the ham and chicken dinner from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Tickets can be bought at the library and during the dinner. You don’t have to be present to win; winners will be called May 20.

The membership drive week continues until May 18. Your library card will now allow you to borrow materials from 11 libraries.

Bring in a photo ID. It will take a few minutes to fill out the registration card. Children must be 5 years old to get a card and must be accompanied by a parent.

Everyone who renews a card or gets a new one during the week will receive a free children’s hardcover book.

Reminder: Storytime and crafts with Miss Veronica will be held 11 a.m. May 18, 23 and 30.

Children of all ages are welcome for this social and creative learning experience. No preregistration is required.

Join us for one or both of our free movies May 18. “Nanny McPhee” is the 11 a.m. movie, and “Stalag 17” is the 1 p.m. movie.

Everyone is welcome to attend. Feel free to bring popcorn.

The library will be closed May 25 and 27 for the Memorial Day weekend.

Please remember all veterans who lost their lives while serving and all who have passed away. Be sure to thank a veteran.

The library’s display case this month features items from Coplay High School. See photos and other objects related to Coplay students and schools.

The items found in the time capsule buried in 1969 are also on display.

If you have any photographs, mementos or keepsakes of Coplay, we would love to include them in the remaining displays.

Next month, sports in Coplay will be featured.

The theme for the summer reading program is “A Universe of Stories.” Stay tuned for more information.

The library is looking for youth volunteers for the program. Volunteering in an educational and creative environment can teach valuable skills and experiences.

In addition to the book sales, there is always a selection of books, CDs, DVDs, etc., on sales shelves at the library.

The library also accepts donations during open hours. We no longer accept VHS tapes, encyclopedias or textbooks. Do not bring torn, dirty, highlighted, marked or written-in items.
