May 15

Emmaus Historical Society meeting 7 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church parish hall, 501 Chestnut St., Emmaus. Annual elections will be held at the meeting prior to the program. The program is “2009 Anniversary Celebration - A Look Back” and will be presented by Dr. Michael Waddell and Teri Sorg-McManamon as part of the 2019 program and exhibit theme of “Celebrate the Celebrations.” It is open to the public.

Ribbon-cutting ceremony for Macungie Farmers Market 4 p.m. at Macungie Memorial Park, 50 N. Poplar St., Macungie. The market will be in the grassy area closer to the park building parking lot near the gazebo. Hivel Und Dahl Preservation Society will have a plant and bake sale 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Upper Milford Farmers Market. All proceeds will benefit the Schubert-Graber log building restoration fund.

Bingo at Jerusalem Lutheran Church of Eastern Salisbury, 1707 Church Road, Allentown, 6 p.m. Doors open 5 p.m. Fun for the whole family. The kitchen will be open to purchase food, beverages and dessert. For more information, call Louise at 610-866-1611.

Spring planting 2 to 4 p.m. at the 1792 Bortz Log House in Wescosville. Children can plant vegetables and herbs similar to what would have been grown in the kitchen garden many years ago. For more information, visit www.lmthistory.org.

Homes 4 Hounds, a pet and family fun-filled festival, will be held noon to 4 p.m. at Howard Hanna The Frederick Group Building, 3500 Winchester Road, Allentown. Event includes pictures with puppies, kittens and attendees’ pets, microchiping pets and a group of cats, dogs, puppies and kittens up for adoption.

May 25

The Lehigh-Pocono Committee of Concern will hold its annual Peace-A-Thon walk and bike ride near Sand Island in Bethlehem. The walk/ride will depart 9 a.m. from the Christmas City Fairground at Main and Lehigh streets. Walkers and riders are invited to arrive as early as 8:15 a.m. for a light breakfast, a group body warm-up and stretch and a bike safety check.

Walkers will complete an 8 km (5 mile) route which includes urban streets, bridges and nature trails. Cyclists will ride a challenging 29 km (18 mile) route following the D&L trail east to Freemansburg, taking to the road and hills of Lower Saucon Township and returning along the extension of the South Bethlehem Greenway. There will be stops for rest and refreshments.

Participants are asked to obtain pledges to support LEPOCO and CeaseFirePA. Call the LEPOCO office at 610-691-8730 for pledge sheets and more information.
