Macungie man faces invasion of privacy allegations
A Macungie man faces charges stemming from allegedly having child pornography and filming underage people through use of a hidden cellphone camera.
According to an affidavit of probable cause obtained by The Press, David J. Albert, 46, of the 300 block of Race Street, was arrested March 22 on two counts of invasion of privacy after members of the Lehigh County Computer Crimes Task Force and Pennsylvania State Police Computer Crimes Unit served a search warrant at Albert’s home. Investigation by law enforcement agencies uncovered more than 150 images of child pornography.
Albert also is charged with child pornography, according to law enforcement authorities.
The probable cause affidavit outlines the case as follows:
On Nov. 6, 2018, a City of Bethlehem police detective began an investigation to identify persons using peer-to-peer file sharing software to distribute child pornography over the Internet. The detective is a member of the Lehigh County Computer Crimes Task Force and a member of the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force, according to the affidavit.
The investigation led to a specific IP address.
Downloaded files include a series of images of two different female children, nude or partially nude and in various sexual poses.
A court order was obtained by law enforcement to obtain the subscriber information and service address of the IP address in December 2018.
In January telecom subscription information allegedly led police to Albert’s address and a search warrant was issued.
Seized during the search were a desktop computer which contained three hard drives, a cellular phone and several other computer hard drives. All of these items were owned and used by the defendant, per his alleged admissions, according to the affidavit.
The defendant allegedly stated he had hidden a cellular phone camera in a bathroom laundry hamper on several occasions. He allegedly filmed an underage female as she showered and then transferred still images of the video to his computer.
Located on several of the hard drives allegedly were numerous images and videos taken using a hidden camera in a bathroom. Three of the persons depicted were underage at the time, according to police and none of the victims consented to the videos being taken.
Additionally, more than 150 images of child pornography allegedly were recovered from a memory card inserted into the defendant’s cellphone. The images allegedly depicted a female child engaged in sexual acts with a male.
Lehigh County court records indicate Albert posted bail.
