The National Museum of Industrial History will honor the nearly 50 years since the groundbreaking of Martin Tower prior to its implosion this month with a lecture 2 p.m. May 11 lecture. The “Unique Birth of Martin Tower” will be presented by retired licensed professional engineer Gordon Baker.

Baker helped develop and implement a computerized system that produced the drawings needed to fabricate Martin Tower’s beams and columns and later supervised the fabrication of the tower’s steel.

This event is included in regular museum admission and free to members.
