District News: Classes will now be held May 10

Whitehall-Coplay School District calendar changes due to snow makeup days are as follows.

May 10, which was a scheduled professional development day, will now be a school day for students.

Elementary students will be dismissed early from school June 7, 10 and 11. No lunches will be served. Dismissal will be noon.

The last day of school for students will now be June 12. Students will be dismissed 10 a.m.

Teachers will have a professional development day June 13.

Reminder: Open houses are set in the WCSD.

Gockley Elementary School, 6 p.m. May 9

Zephyr Elementary School, 6 p.m. May 16. Be sure to spend time at the second annual science fair. There will also be a basket raffle in the cafeteria.

Steckel Elementary School, 6 p.m. May 23. There will be a basket raffle and information tables in the cafeteria. There will also be a PTO Plus book fair.

Mark your calendar and plan to attend. There will be a lot to see and enjoy!

PTO Plus’ spring book fairs are also set in the school district.

Zephyr Elementary’s event is set for May 13-17.

From May 20 through May 24, Steckel Elementary will hold its book fair.

Students will be bringing home a flier for parents to review. There are some great selections of books, plus more.

Whitehall High School students will take the Keystone exams May 13-17.

This year marks the 25th annual presentation of the Steckelwood Pops concert. Join the students for a delightful evening of music 7 p.m. May 21 in the auditorium of WHS.

If your child is participating, please have him or her wear picture day-type clothing and arrive no later than 6:30 p.m. Students should report directly to the high school cafeteria.

Parents and friends can enter through the auditorium.

The performance will include musical selections performed by the second- and third-grade choruses. After the concert, third-graders will be dismissed from the risers in the auditorium and second-graders will be dismissed from the cafeteria.

Graduation is around the corner! Seniors are reminded to come to the main office to check if they have any obligations.

All obligations - money owed for any school issued items that were either lost or damaged - must be taken care of in order to walk at graduation.
