New driving school opens

There’s a new business in town and it’s providing relief to new drivers who need take the Pennsylvania driver’s license test, but have a long wait at state testing sites.

Andre Wilkerson, owner of AW Driving School, 555 Union Blvd., Allentown, and his family had a ribbon-cutting ceremony April 3 at the new facility.

AW Driving School is a PennDOT authorized third-party testing site in the Lehigh Valley.

The school teaches new drivers and then tests and certifies that they have met the criteria to receive their license.

Wilkerson, using his talents with art and website building, left his life as a homeless young adult in West Philadelphia, connected with a driving school and eventually opened his new business in the former Lucent Technology Center along Union Boulevard.
