Moon shot: The Allentown Symphony, with Diane Wittry, Music Director-Conductor, presents “To The Moon And Back!,” 7 p.m. May 4, State Theatre Center for the Arts, Easton. The concert by the acclaimed ASO celebrates the 50th anniversary of the moon landing with spectacular music accompanied by photos from NASA. Where were you on July 20, 1969, when Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin took mankind’s first steps on the lunar surface? The concert program includes: Debussy’s “Clair de Lune,” Beethoven’s “Moonlight Sonata,” John Williams’ “Star Wars,” Holst’s “The Planets: Mars, The Bringer of War,” and Horner’s “Theme from Apollo 13.” Free with your ticket is a lecture by Todd Sullivan, “100 Billion Earths: The Future of Space Science,” 5:30 p.m. May 4, Acopian Ballroom. Fun, Fun, Fun: Civic Theatre of Allentown presents the Lehigh Valley production premiere of “Fun Home,” May 3-19. The Tony Award-winning musical traces the coming-of-age of lesbian author Alison Bechdel, from her youth, to her years at Oberlin College, and to the present. Alison reflects on her past, struggling to make sense of it, particularly her relationship with her father, Bruce, and her brothers, John and Christian. Music is by Jeanine Tesori. Book and lyrics are by Lisa Kron, based on the memoir, “Fun Home: A Family Tragicomic,” by Alison Bechdel. Director and Choreographer is William Ross Sanders. Music Director is Nick Conti.
