LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

STUDENT OF THE WEEK

Q. Who are the members of your family: parents, siblings and pets?

A. I am very fortunate to have a wonderful family, including my mom, Cynthia and my younger brother, Connor.

Q. What do you most enjoy about being a senior at Emmaus High School?

A. Being a senior has many benefits, including knowing the fastest route between classes and being able to dispel with the “freshman backpack.”

Q. What is your favorite subject? Why?

A. My favorite subject is AP Literature, as I am a total bookworm who loves to read. In fact, it is rare that I do not have a book in my hands at some point during the day. I find reading fascinating because it is an interesting means of learning about society and history.

Q. Have you received any special awards or recognition?

A. Throughout my years at EHS, I have received some awards recognizing me for my efforts: Paul Rockwell Diely Memorial Award, EHS, May 2016; National Honor Society, 2018 to present; Spanish National Honor Society, 2018 to present; Principal’s Honor Roll, EHS, 2015-2019; Outstanding GPA Award, EHS, 2015-2018; National Spanish Examination Honorable Mention, 2018; Outstanding Academic Award in History, EHS, 2018; Student of the Month Award for Health, EHS, September 2016; Student of the Month Award for Art, EHS, April 2016; Student of the Month Award for English, EHS, November 2015; Extraordinary Science Student Award, EHS, 2015-2016; History Day Regional Competition Award, EHS, 2015-2016 and Outstanding Academic Award in Honors English, EHS, 2015-2016.

Q. What are your favorite extracurricular activities?

A. My favorite extracurricular activities include being an EHS Hornet Ambassador and Mock Trial. As the president of Mock Trial for the past three years, I am so proud of our team that advanced to round four of the regional competition this year.

Q. What is your next goal after high school?

A. After high school, I plan on attending a private four year college, focusing on an interdisciplinary major that incorporates both the natural and social sciences.

Q. What do you consider your biggest challenge to date?

A. I think that each day poses a challenge on some level – such as trying to decide what advice to give to friends in crises and how to deal with my own disappointments. Difficult situations such as these cause me hesitation, because there is no black and white answer.

Q. For what would you like to be remembered?

A. I would like to be remembered at EHS for my positive attitude and cheery smile.

Q. Whom do you admire? Why?

A. I admire my mom because she has taught me not only the value of a quality education but also the supreme value of being a kind, good-hearted and giving person.

Q. Do you have any advice for your peers?

A. Some advice that I would like to pass on to the underclassman at EHS is that while each school day may seem like an eternity, the four years of high school pass by unbelievably quickly. Take advantage of these four years, focus on the wonderful experiences and enjoy all that Emmaus has to offer.
