The Allentown Public Library, 1210 W. Hamilton St., will host its spring book sale 1 to 7 p.m. Also 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 3 and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 4.

Lower Macungie AARP meeting, noon in Lower Macungie Township library building, 3450 Brookside Road. The topic is home gardens with Jane Miller from Home Depot. Meeting includes a potluck lunch so bring your favorite dish, Coffee and tea will be available. For more information, call 610-285-4563.

Lower Macungie Township’s ninth annual Community Day event for residents of Lower Macungie Township 4 to 8 p.m. at the Lower Macungie Community Center. This event is held rain or shine and includes fun, food, entertainment and a variety of free activities for the entire family and residents of all ages. This is an opportunity for residents to see all that the township has to offer.

May 9

Allentown Garden Club meeting 12:30 p.m. at the lower level of the Allentown Public Library, 12th and Hamilton streets, Allentown. Jack Jones, J.J. Woodcrafts, will present unique, one-of-a-kind, birdhouses and bird feeders crafted from old barn wood. Many birdhouses will be offered for sale. The public is welcome.

May 11

Allentown Garden Club’s annual plant sale 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 207 N. 27th St., Allentown, just north of the Allentown Rose Garden. The greatest volume of the plants are perennials and come from our members’ gardens.

Purse bingo fundraiser for Boots & Saddle Riding Club at the Alburtis Area Community Center, 220 W. 2nd St., Alburtis. Doors open 1 p.m. Games start 2 p.m. Groups of eight or more can reserve a table and receive a special thank you gift. Advance reservations include extra door prize tickets. Emmaus Historical Society meeting, 7 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church parish hall, 501 Chestnut St., Emmaus. Annual elections will be held at the meeting prior to the program. The program following the meeting is “2009 Anniversary Celebration - A Look Back” and will be presented by Dr. Michael Waddell and Teri Sorg McManamon as part of our 2019 program and exhibit theme of “Celebrate the Celebrations.” It is open to the public.
