133RD LEGISLATIVE DISTRICT
State Rep. Jeanne McNeill, D-133rd, announced she will host a REAL ID informational event to promote and answer questions concerning Pennsylvania’s REAL ID program.
The event will take place 6 p.m. May 8 at the Han-Le-Co Fire Company, 1001 Postal Road, Allentown.
The program will feature Pennsylvania Department of Transportation officials to help residents learn more about obtaining a federally compliant REAL ID. No RSVP is required to attend.
“As with any new program, I am sure residents have plenty of questions on what REAL ID is, and if they will need one,” McNeill said. “My staff and I are happy to help people know the ins and outs of the program, and I recommend anyone with questions about the process to attend and learn more.”
REAL IDs, which are optional, are now available through PennDOT. After Oct. 1, 2020, a REAL ID-compliant license or identification card, a U.S. passport or a military ID will be necessary to board a domestic commercial flight or to enter a secure federal facility. A REAL ID-compliant driver’s license has enhanced security features required by federal legislation.
McNeill said a REAL ID can be obtained through the mail, online and in person at certain PennDOT Driver License Centers, including the new center at 1101 MacArthur Road, Whitehall.
Anyone with questions can contact McNeill’s office at 610-266-1273.
