Cedar Crest College will hold the annual Community Earth Day Celebration from 4 to 6 p.m. on April 24 along the college quad at the college.

The celebration will include environmental activities, games, arts, crafts, seed planting and more, many of which are for elementary-aged children. College students will help with the activities.

Cedar Crest College recently recognized a number of faculty members during a promotion and tenure ceremony on April 4.

The following faculty members were recognized: Eileen Fruchtl, MSN, RN, CNE was promoted to Senior Instructor of Nursing; Joshua Harrington, PhD was promoted to Associate Professor of Mathematics and awarded tenure; Deborah Hartman, MS, BCSE was promoted to Senior Instructor of Education; Scott Hoke, PhD was promoted to Associate Professor of Criminal Justice; Joan Kern, PhD was promoted to Associate Professor of Education; Jill Purdy, EdD was promoted to Professor of Education; and Lindsey Welch, PhD was promoted to Associate Professor of Chemistry and awarded tenure.

Cedar Crest College presents ‘The Art of Art Therapists’ at the Gallery of Capital Blue Cross at the Shoppes at the Promenade in Center Valley. This student exhibit presents imagery from students in the undergraduate and graduate art therapy program as well as faculty. Charlene Natterman of Bethlehem has artwork featured. Faculty exhibiting are Michelle Dean, program director, and Meredith Fleshman, adjunct faculty.

The exhibit is on display through May 6.

Northampton Community College

Northampton Community College will hold a full-day of sustainability-themed events from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on April 24 in room 220, College Center, Bethlehem Campus, 3835 Green Pond Road.

There will be speakers whose topics include Sustainability and the Community; What the Frack?; Climate Reality and the IPCC Report; What Now?; Student Led Initiatives; Will Engineering Save Us? Climate Change and Environmental Justice; and Green College Initiatives. Workshops include recycling and composting, tour of the East40, writing letters to the editor and more.

The day concludes with a 6 p.m. presentation of the documentary “Paris to Pittsburg” with a Q&A to follow. Breakfast and lunch is provided to registered attendees. The event is sponsored by the Sustainability Committee, Geography and the NCC Climate Action Network club.

Northampton Community College will hold an artist talk at 2:30 p.m. in Room 190, and a reception at 5 p.m. in the Gallery of Communications Hall, both on April 30, in the College Center, Main Campus.

The annual Fine Art Exhibit features the students’ capstone projects of and runs from April 18 through May 2 at the gallery.
