Lehigh Gap Nature Center, 8844 Paint Mill Road, Slatington, will host Elizabeth Collins, Ph.D. for a discussion titled “The Human Microbiome: The Creatures on You and in You that Sustain Life and Health” from 7-9 p.m. April 11.
Scientists are beginning to understand the human biome - bacteria, viruses, and eukaryotes - living within us are essential for human health.
A researcher on the human biome, Dr. Collins recently retired from Vassar College Biology Faculty as a lecturer and laboratory coordinator.
She continues to teach part time at Vassar and recently taught a course on the microbiome through Marist College continuing education.
