As March ends and April brings spring weather, students begin outside projects and activities.
The 11th grade Music and Film classes took a field trip to New York City April 5. In addition to exploring Manhattan, students attended Broadway musical “Wicked” to study musical performance and theatre production. This adaptation of Gregory Maguire’s novel features the “Wizard of OZ” Wicked Witch of the West’s perspective and takes place several years before the tornado that brought Dorothy to the land of Oz.
Upcoming events in the Jaguar calendar include the yearly Mini-Thon. This 12 hour dance marathon is modeled after Penn State’s Panhellenic Dance Marathon. It is a fundraiser that raises awareness about pediatric cancer. Mini-Thons all over Pennsylvania bring hope to families in need and allow students and their families to contribute to their communities. LVA’s fundraising goal is $10,000 this year. Mini-Thon takes place April 27 from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. in the K-3 auditorium.
Seniors are looking forward to a Lehigh Valley Academy tradition: The Senior Graduation Walk. Graduating seniors will walk through all of the school hallways May 1 to the applause of faculty and students. It is an opportunity for the whole school to honor the graduates and wish them well before they embark on their final exams.
The seniors are also eager to celebrate together at Prom. The formal dance will take place at the beautiful and historic Hotel Bethlehem May 2.
