LCA invited to attend Lynn board meeting

Supervisor Steve Feinour again shared his displeasure over the Lehigh County Authority regarding the sewer plant.

LCA representatives are invited to the April meeting to explain the status of equivalent dwelling units available at the plant and how they will find room for any additional EDUs to hook up to the sewer system.

The plan for Madison Village Mobile Home development is being affected by the uncertain EDU situation.

In other matters, supervisors, during their March meeting, approved a tax exemption for Adam and Amanda Dietrich to operate a dairy farm along Golden Key Road.

The Lehigh County Industrial Development Authority must also grant an exemption on the farm under the Next Generation Farmer Loan Program.

Supervisor Brian Dietrich abstained from the vote due to conflict of interest.

A service agreement was adopted which gave Kessler Freedman Inc. the authority to create a website for the proposed veterans memorial in Ontelaunee Park.

Freedman will receive $2,840 for the first year and $85 per month as needed afterward.

Township staff will be taught how to operate the system and will be able to add material as necessary.

New Tripoli Fire Company Assistant Fire Chief Gary Kuntz Jr. reported 22 fire calls so far this year.

Among the other items Kuntz mentioned, will be equipment testing when pump, hose and ladders are tested for performance.

A filling sale fundraiser for the fire company is underway. Orders must be in by April 10 with pickup 11 a.m.-2 p.m. April 20.

Lynnport Fire Company President Darryl Schafer told the board the new roof, with the intention to stop leaks, on the fire station will be installed this year.

The roof air conditioner will be removed and new ceiling tile will be installed in the hall.

Lynn Township’s road crew was busy plowing snow, boom mowing, repairing and installing signs, opening blocked pipes and filling potholes.

There will be a yard sale at Ontelaunee Park 11 a.m.-4 p.m. April 27.

New Tripoli Fire Company will have food and drinks available for purchase

The 12th annual Pow Wow in the park will be May 17-19 and the annual 5K run hosted by the Northwestern Lehigh Educational Foundation will be on May 25.

The car cruise in the park will be on July 7.

Supervisors adopted a resolution cementing the proposed splashpad installation. The resolution was needed so the board could apply for funding.

Chairman Justin Smith noted there was damage to the portable toilet at the Northwestern Recreation Commission Community Park in the amount of $2,100 plus labor to fix the fields due to the damage by someone driving on them.

Newer toilets will be installed on pads and posts will be placed at each corner for protection.

If anyone has any information relating to the vandalism, they are asked to come forward.

Smith said the recreation commission will send letters to the four Northwestern townships requesting help to blacktop the walking trail.

Money is available from grants received from Nestle Waters and others.

Several members of the audience voiced their support of the proposed community swimming pool. Among those were Beth Alboucq, Natalie Nester, Tiffany Faust and Zara Buchlight.

Frey and Company representative Melanie Walsh, reviewed the audit with the board. The financial records of the township were in very good shape, she explained.

Solicitor Marc Fisher was authorized to develop a new streetlight ordinance to supersede the old one.
