Willow Brook construction set

Construction at the site of the Willow Brook Farm subdivision project is expected to get underway within 30 days.

North Catasauqua Borough Council President Peter Paone announced the developers’ timeline at the March 18 meeting of council.

Paone, borough Solicitor Steve Goudsouzian, Northampton Borough Manager LeRoy Brobst and two Keystone Consulting Engineers representatives met with Willow Brook developers earlier this month, learning that clearing the land, installing catch basins for wastewater management and performing utilities work are at the top of the to-do list.

The project will span North Catasauqua and Northampton boroughs and Allen Township. A total of 152 residential lots are planned for North Catasauqua.

The Willow Brook Golf Course will be cut to nine holes and become part of the private community.

Construction on a new clubhouse at the course is nearly completed. Developers are turning an old barn on the property into a pro shop and pavilion.

Phases one and two of the residential part of the project include an estimated 50 homes split between North Catasauqua and Northampton, Paone said, adding the first homes would be completed and on the market in early 2020.

In other business, Bryan Cope was appointed to the borough’s planning commission, replacing Emergency Management Coordinator Roger Scheirer, who has been busy with other borough responsibilities, Paone said. Cope is employed in Northampton County’s parks, recreation and open space department. Scheirer will serve as an alternate on the planning commission.

North Catasauqua Borough Council next meets 7 p.m. April 1 in the municipal building.
