LOWER MACUNGIE COLUMN

There will be a Spotted Lanternfly public meeting presented by horticulture educator Amy Korman from the Penn State Extension Northampton County 6:30-7:30 p.m. March 27 at the Lower Macungie Community Center. Lower Macungie Middle School will present the musical “Into the Woods” 7 p.m. March 21, 22 and 23 and 2 p.m. March 23.

Eyer Middle School will present “Disney’s Aladdin JR.” 7 p.m. March 28, 29 and 30 and 2 p.m. March 30.

Swim lesson signups for Lower Macungie Pool will begin after April 1. Signups are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Lower Macungie Community Center.

Concordia Lutheran Preschool will hold its annual Community Easter Egg Hunt 9:30 a.m. April 13 with registration starting 9 a.m. There will be a pancake breakfast immediately following in Fellowship Hall. Freewill offerings will be accepted.

Habitat Lehigh Valley ReStore will have a truck available at the community center to collect unwanted but new and gently used furniture, appliances and building supplies for resale 9 a.m. to noon April 13.

The Lower Macungie “Lazers” swim team signups for children ages five through 18 will be held 4:30-6:30 p.m. April 16 at the community center. The season runs May 28 through July 20 and a Lower Macungie Township pool membership is required. For more information, visit www.leaguelineup.com/lmlazers.

Summer playground signups will take place 6-7:30 p.m. April 24 at the community center. The program runs 9 a.m. to noon weekdays June 24 through Aug. 9 for children ages six to 11 years.

Concordia Lutheran Preschool will hold an Earth Day clothes recycling event 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 27 at Concordia Lutheran Church on Brookside Road. Acceptable items for the clothing drive include new and gently used clothing, shoes, coats, bedding and towels (no stuffed animals). More information can be found on Concordia Preschool’s Facebook page. Tax donation receipts are available. There will be family friendly Earth Day activities 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and a hot dog cookout. Lower Macungie offers garden plot rentals on Bogie Avenue and at Camp Olympic. Plots are available to rent on a first-come, first-serve basis. Contact the community center for more information.

The Lower Macungie Garden Club will meet 1 p.m. April 10 at the community center.

The Lower Macungie Senior Citizens Club meets noon April 2 and 16 at the community center. After a business meeting, members play bingo or card games.

Macungie Ambulance Corps will offer American Heart Association CPR training. Heartsaver CPR AED will be 6-8 p.m. April 9; Pediatric Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED will be offered 6-8 p.m. April 23 at the community center.

The community center offers a number of activities. Classes include card making, community meal prep, belly dance, ballroom dance, tart baking, Tai Chi, Zumba and Pilates. Children’s activities include Kindermusik, cooking classes, video game animation, soccer, robotics and programming and Toddlers and Tutus. CPR classes will also be offered in April and May. A safe sitter class will be offered April 6. A paint party is offered April 2.

Family open gym time is 10 a.m. to noon Saturdays for ages infant through 10 years with a parent. Proof of residency is required.

Yard waste site winter hours are noon-5 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The center is closed Tuesday and Thursday. Yard waste permits are required for drop-off.

The Lower Macungie Library has joined the Lehigh Carbon Library Cooperative with 10 other libraries. One library card can be used at 11 libraries in the cooperative and resources from other libraries can be delivered to Lower Macungie Library in one to two days.

Donations for the spring book sale will be accepted through April 6.

The spring 2019 book sale will be held May 3-4.
