Weisenberg adds to Ag District

Weisenberg Township supervisors incorporated two properties into the Ag Security District by resolution at their March 11 meeting.

The Stettler/Fritz land of 43.58 acres near New Smithville, and 23 acres owned by Scott and Susan Kinney on Sweitzer Road, were added to the compact.

Jan Sutermeister, representing those advocating for a swimming pool in the Northwestern Lehigh four-township area, told supervisors her group is now incorporated as a nonprofit organization.

Advertisement will be made for the paving project envisioned on Kecks and New Smithville roads.

Bids will be accepted until 9 a.m. April 8 and then opened directly.

Administrator Brian Carl reported bids were received for lawn care on the athletic fields.

The winning bidder was PA Lawn and Landscaping at a cost of $405 to do both sites as needed.

Deputy Fire Chief Matt Krapf reported 18 responses for February pushing the yearly total to 38.

The fire company’s corn pie sale was a success with a more than $700 profit.

The open house is scheduled for May 11. Truck number 5131 has returned after repairs were done along with routine maintenance.

Roadmaster Tony Werley reported the road crew was busy repairing equipment, cutting shoulders, mowing and various other activities.

Township engineer Dan Wojciechowski noted Morgan Hills has not responded to the letter from January as to the schedule of their cleanup plan.

West Hills has submitted a transportation impact study, which was reviewed by the engineer and forwarded to PennDOT.

West Hills II’s maintenance period will expire shortly.

Some items still need to be addressed before the township takes over the road.

Katem Court is in the same situation with the end of its 18-month maintenance period ending soon.

This project must be inspected to ascertain conformity to the regulations.

The board announced the next electronics recycling day will be on Sept. 28 at the Weisenberg Volunteer Fire Company.
