After winning two individual gold, one relay gold and one relay silver at districts, Sarah Bobeck made her final trip to states to compete in three events. Through the two days of competition, Bobeck finished 17th in the 200-yard freestyle and 19th in the 100-yard freestyle. She also teamed with fellow seniors Madison Jewell and Cathryn Fitzsimmons and sophomore Julia Graver in the 200-yard freestyle relay to finish in 27th place.

Bobeck made a gutsy move to switch from swimming the 50- and 500-yard freestyle events, where she took gold at districts in both events in 2018, to competing in the 200- and 100-yard freestyle events this year. Last year at states, she finished in 10th in the 500-yard freestyle event.

While her individual accomplishments are something to be proud of, Bobeck spoke mainly about the 200-yard freestyle relay event at districts as being one of the better feelings that she had as a high school swimmer.

“That was amazing, because we weren’t really sure what to expect and to win and go to states is a great feeling, especially since three of us are seniors and will get to have that final race together,” said Bobeck at districts this year.

Overall, Bobeck collected seven gold medals, five silver and two bronze medals in District 11 meets over her four seasons. Her highest finish at states was her 10th place finish in the 500-yard freestyle and she just missed a shot at swimming in the consolation finals for the 200-yard freestyle event this year at states with her 17th place finish.
