District News: Mary Poppins flying in March 21-24 at the high school

The 2019 Northampton Area High School spring musical, “Mary Poppins,” will be presented March 21-24. Show times are 7 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday.

The Empty Bowls event will be held 5-7:30 p.m. March 28 in the cafeteria of Northampton Area Middle School. Proceeds from the event will help feed the hungry and raise awareness of food insecurity.

Moore Elementary School, 2835 Mountain View Drive, Moore Township, is hosting a literacy night 6-8 p.m. March 29. There will be a meet and greet with author Floyd Cooper, a book presentation with a fun craft, therapy dogs to pet and read to and raffles with prizes.

Free books and food will also be available.

Northampton Area School District will be holding a Title I family night “escape room” event 6-7:30 p.m. April 3 in the multipurpose room of the Siegfried building. Find the clues, solve the puzzles and escape the room. Reading and math will lead the way.

A free night of fun for elementary families, there will be a photo booth, escape room, raffles, prizes, snacks, math, English/language arts, fun and more!

Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Northampton Area Middle School will be hosting Camp Invention, a nationally recognized, nonprofit summer enrichment camp STEM program, June 17-20.

Camp Invention challenges children in kindergarten through sixth grade to find their “inner inventor” by learning the process of innovation. Using hands-on activities, Camp Invention promotes science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) learning; builds confidence, leadership, perseverance, resourcefulness and problem-solving skills; and encourages entrepreneurship in a fun and engaging environment.
