Sedaka to be honored
Moravian College President Bryon Grigsby will confer an Honorary Doctorate degree on Neil Sedaka for his contributions to music at 7:30 p.m. on April 12 in Foy Concert Hall, 342 Main St.
Classically trained at Juilliard, the two-time Songwriters Hall of Fame inductee was one of the first teen idols of the 50s, a tunesmith in the 60s, a superstar in the 70s and, at age 80, still performs to audiences worldwide.
There will be a concert of his music, performed by pianist Jeffrey Biegel, accompanied by a full orchestra of students, faculty and professional musicians. The Moravian College Big Band will also perform some newly arranged versions of Sedaka’s best known compositions.
Tickets for the concert are available to the general public; visit www.lvartscouncil.org.
