There’s murder afoot on the stage at Saucon Valley High School with “Curtains,” a play-within-a-play musical-comedy, at 7 p.m. March 14, 15, 16 and 2 p.m. March 17, auditorium, Saucon Valley High School, 2100 Polk Valley Road, Hellertown.

It’s 1959 and Lieutenant Frank Cioffi, a Boston police detective and theater fan, investigates the opening night demise of the untalented leading lady of the musical, “Robbin’ Hood of the Old West.” While trying to solve the mysterious deaths of additional cast and crew members of the show, the lonely gumshoe attempts to save the day, save the play, as well as find love.

Chad A. Miller is producer, director and vocal director. He is assisted by choreographer and assistant director Kimberly Tassinaro, technical director Patrick Mertz, pit director Michael Marini, and acting coach Eric Hersh.

With music by John Kander, lyrics by Fred Ebb, and written by Rupert Holmes, “Curtains” is based on the book and concept by Peter Stone.

The musical whodunit premiered in Los Angeles in 2006. Its 2007 Broadway debut garnered eight Tony Award nominations and received one Tony for leading actor.

“Wide Open Spaces,” “Show People,” “I Miss the Music,” “In the Same Boat” and “A Tough Act to Follow” are among the featured songs.
