District News: NAMS receives Outstanding ‘COOL’ Award in recent contest

Congratulations to Northampton Area Middle School for winning the Outstanding “COOL” Award in the recent What’s So Cool About Manufacturing? contest. On Feb. 26, more than 900 people attended the awards ceremony, held at ArtsQuest Center at SteelStacks, Bethlehem.

The student video contest gives students in Carbon, Lehigh and Northampton counties the opportunity to connect directly with local manufacturers, track their experiences and then present them in an educational and “cool” way through a documentary video production. The contest was created to generate excitement that draws students toward considering manufacturing career paths.

The program, created by Manufacturers Resource Center and teaming partners eMediaWorks, Sahl Communications and EmpowerStar Marketing, received 123,228 votes over a three-day voting period. The video with the most votes received the Viewers Choice Award. The videos were also reviewed by a panel of judges for awards in 10 other categories, including Outstanding Brand Placement and Outstanding Creativity.
