LV MUSEUM:
Angela P. Dodson will speak about and sign copies of her book, “Remember the Ladies: Celebrating Those Who Fought for Freedom at the Ballot Box,” 1 p.m. March 2, Lehigh County Historical Society’s Lehigh Valley Heritage Museum, 432 W. Walnut St., Allentown.
“We are pleased to host Angela Dodson during our celebration of Women’s History Month.” said Joseph Garrera, Executive Director of the Museum.
“When I embarked on the project to write this book, I was inspired by the upcoming centennial anniversary of the Nineteenth Amendment, known as the Susan B. Anthony Amendment, which gave all women the right to vote in 1920,” Dodson said.
Her book places the history of the struggle for women’s voting rights in the context of other social and political movements and events. The book tells the wider story of women’s contributions to American politics from the founding of the United States.
The title, “Remember the Ladies,” is from a letter penned by Abigail Adams in 1776 to her husband, Revolutionary leader and later U.S. President John Adams.
Dodson is a contributing editor tor “Diverse: Issues in Higher Education.” She has been a senior editor for The New York Times and executive editor of Black Issues Book Review.
Dodson’s book will be available for purchase, and the author will sign copies.
