LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

STUDENT OF THE WEEK

Q. Who are the members of your family: parents, siblings and pets?

A. The members of my family are my mom Betsy, my dad Paul, my older brother Patrick, my twin sister Maggie, my two dogs, Molly and Pearl and my cat Jack.

Q. What do you most enjoy about being a senior at Emmaus High School?

A. I really enjoy having early dismissal for the entire year.

Q. What is your favorite subject? Why?

A. Chemistry is my favorite subject because I like learning and understanding about the way substances interact and how they combine and change to form other substances.

Q. Have you received any special awards or recognition?

A. I am a member of National Honor Society and Spanish Honor Society. My freshman and sophomore year, I was awarded All-State Honorable Mention by the Pennsylvania High School Swimming Coaches Association. I was also co-MVP my sophomore year. During my junior year, I was a member of the 200-yard Freestyle Relay recognized as All-American by the National Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association. I was also named All-State in the 100-yard backstroke and as a member of the 200- and 400-yard freestyle relays by the Pennsylvania High School Swimming Coaches Association.

Q. What are your favorite extracurricular activities?

A. Swimming is my favorite extracurricular activity and I have been a member of the EHS swim and dive team all four years.

Q. What is your next goal after high school?

A. I will be attending George Mason University this fall and will be a member of the women’s swim and dive team. I am undecided as to what my major will be.

Q. What do you consider your biggest challenge to date?

A. I am very shy and quiet by nature so one of my biggest challenges is public speaking and being able to overcome the anxiety that comes with talking in front of an audience. I became a Hornet Ambassador partly to give back to EHS, but also to help get over my fear of public speaking.

Q. For what would you like to be remembered?

A. I would like to be remembered as someone who leads by example, someone who works hard and is a team player and as someone who helps others to reach their potential.

Q. Whom do you admire? Why?

A. I admire my brother, Patrick because he has always given me good advice and been helpful to me. I admire his perseverance and his work ethic in the classroom and in the pool. He has taught me a lot about being humble and being a team player. He really is awesome and really cares about other people.

Q. Do you have any advice for your peers?

A. Always be yourself and believe in your dreams because this belief goes a long way toward achieving your goals. Work hard and don’t be afraid to speak up for what you think is right.
